Autel pulled back the curtain on its newest mobile ADAS calibration frame, the MA800, last week at the Auto Glass Expo in San Antonio, Texas. Built as the successor to the popular MA600, the MA800 keeps the frame's mobile, modular design but reworks the centering and positioning process from the ground up.
We got a hands-on look at the unit in action, and here's what stood out.

Setting Vehicle Center Without a Plumb Bob
The most noticeable change is how the MA800 finds vehicle centerline. Gone are the plumb bobs and conventional tape measures that techs have relied on for years. In their place, Autel has built in a self-leveling two-line laser paired with a digital laser tape measure.
Start at the Rear
The centering jig is aimed at the vehicle's rear center point, such as the center of the rear emblem.
Set the Reflector
A taller double-sided laser reflector is positioned at the rear center point so the laser lands on its green target zone.
Establish Centerline
Move the jig to the front, use the magnetic mirror, and align the laser with the green reflective zone.
Once the laser lights up the green reflective zone on that rear board, the vehicle's true centerline is established, and it's time to bring in the frame itself.
Positioning the Frame and Targets
The Autel tablet walks the technician through frame setup step by step. A two-line laser mounted at the center of the frame's crossbar, paired with a digital laser tape measure just above it, is aimed at the front of the vehicle to set the frame's distance.
Frame Distance
The frame-mounted laser and digital laser tape measure establish the correct distance from the vehicle.
Vehicle Center
The technician aligns the frame laser with the established vehicle centerline, squaring the frame to the vehicle.
Target Distance
A rechargeable Bluetooth-enabled digital laser tape measure sends target distance directly to the tablet for the calibration report.
Target Height
The same Bluetooth tape measure moves to a dedicated position on the frame, while height is adjusted through a flip-out handle.
The gear ratio on the MA800's height adjustment felt noticeably quicker to turn than on the MA600.
Fine-tuning comes last. A two-axis bubble level, adjustable through separate pitch, yaw, and roll knobs, lets the technician square up the target precisely before handing off to the scan tool to run the calibration.
Built for the Van, Not Just the Bay
Beyond the setup process, Autel clearly designed the MA800 with mobile techs in mind. The removable arms, jig, jig mirror, and laser unit all have dedicated brackets or magnetic mounts for storage, and the whole frame breaks down into five pieces that pack easily into a van or trunk.

One Compatibility Note to Know
MA600 & Newer Targets
The MA800 uses the same targets as the Autel MA600 and newer stands.
Older Roll-Up Targets
The MA800 will not accept the older large-format roll-up magnetic targets.
Coming This Fall
Autel expects the MA800 to hit the market in late September, with units reaching customers by October.

Overall, this looks like a meaningful refinement of an already solid mobile frame, replacing manual measurement steps with laser and Bluetooth precision.
