Key Equipment: Corner Reflector and Stand
We at ADAS Depot want to highlight some of the most important ADAS calibration equipment for your shop. These are the tools that you will use many times, because they calibrate the most-calibrated sensors and / or are universal. These tools are the highest return-on-investment given how frequently they are used.
The Corner Reflector with Stand should be one the MVPs in your toolbox. The corner reflector is a metal trihedral designed for reflecting the radar used in ADAS features. It is typically positioned precisely in front of the radar sensor during calibration.
Any time a vehicle is in a front collision involving the bumper, there is a good likelihood that the front-facing radar will need to be calibrated whether it is replaced or not.
A couple of features make this piece especially convenient during calibration. The first is the leveling features on the calibration stand. You can tweak the leveling to make sure that the corner reflector is perfectly perpendicular to the ground, and not tilted. Second, there is a laser that passes through the trihedral center, which is helpful for aligning in preparation for the calibration.
