A How-To Guide On Autel Remote Expert

Autel's Remote Expert is one of the most underrated remote diagnostic services out there. In a survey recently released by Autel, a third of Autel users weren't familiar with Remote Expert but wanted to learn more.

What is Remote Expert?

Remote Diagnostics over IP (DoIP) empowers shops to access powerful diagnostic, programming, and ADAS capabilities without the hefty investment in OEM software.

How Does it Work?

After you connect to a vehicle with your Autel Tablet, you can open the Remote Expert App and find a specialist with the expertise and software you need to complete your repair. From their remote location, they can access your vehicle and apply OEM software just as if they were in your shop using a J-2534 box and their laptop.

Each Remote Expert is an independent contractor and they will have a different pricing based on the type of work requested and type of software required. After your request is picked up by an expert, you will get a quote for the work before you continue.

What Does This Mean For Your Shop?

This technology democratizes access to advanced diagnostics and levels the playing field for shops of all sizes. You will have access to almost all OEM software which can be used to troubleshoot complex vehicle issues, reprogram & flash modules, and perform ADAS calibrations. You no longer need to rely on your local dealership for these services. As a result, you’ll reduce your downtime and gain more control over your repair process - saving money for your customers.

Picture this: You need to calibrate a vehicle you haven't seen in the shop before and you can't quite get the calibration to pass! ?

Without Remote Expert, this vehicle would need to go to the local dealership to overcome this failing calibration.

Now, you have the option to connect to a Remote Expert and they will provide 1:1 support in guiding you through the calibration process and apply OEM software if required. The car never leaves your shop and you avoid the steep invoice from the dealership.

Another Example: You're a body shop or a stand-alone ADAS calibration center. One of the cars you're working on is an Audi that got into an accident and needs a new image processing module.

Without access to the Audi ODIS OEM software, programming this module simply isn't possible.

Again, instead of sending it to the dealership, a Remote Expert with a comprehensive knowledge of OEM programming can do it for you. All in the comfort of your own shop!
